Representing Teens

Some things that I understand about her photos was that she was representing the lifestyle that these teens feel they must live up to. I think that she may be trying to point out that the lifestyle these teens are expected to live up to is unrealistic. Their parents, although sometimes it seems there parents are just as bad or even worse, are helping them live lives that they may not be able to keep up with. The focus of these teens seems to be money and living like adults (or what their interpretation of an adult is). It is in many ways sad that they see their self worth in dollar signs.
This story emerged in her photographs mainly by the way people looked. They were dressed to the nines, in sports cars, and even at casinos. This story really emerged to me when I saw the photo of the teen getting a nose job. Why would anyone at such a young age want to alter their body? It seems to me that she obviously is too young to appreciate it as is her friends if they are getting all these surgery's on whims.
I think that this story connects to Tricia Rose's about hip hop. In Rose's article the teens were finding a way to express themselves because of what had been done to their homes and families. It seems to me that the teens in Greenfield's photos are acting out with what they have been given. They have been given money and they are using it.
